About the Artist

Classically trained as a concert violinist, Ben Mason has been performing live music for over sixteen years. Experienced both as a soloist and ensemble performer, he has been making music since the age of eight. In the mid nineties he was introduced to electronic music and production, and dove into the world of underground electronica as a DJ and producer.

Today, he performs live using a custom-built octophonic laptop system (eight voices/speakers) and a six string electric violin. He works with an extensive amount of real-time synthesis, using the Audio Mulch performance platform. By composing songs through building virtually reactive environments, he is able to focus on improvised performances and still produce rich work that carries a distinct orchestral ambient feel.

Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Ben is available for live performances in Asheville, Henderson county, Brevard, and surrounding areas.
